Open Studio:
Valerie Arif

Join us on Saturday, April 1st, for an open studio featuring a selection of graphic designer Valerie Arif’s projects. The session will focus on the process of design through a presentation of concepts, mood boards and drafts leading up to final outcome.

Valerie Arif is an emerging Cairo-based graphic designer whose work spans cultural and commercial projects. Arif’s work includes the Cairo Metro Map for Cairobserver, branding for Zaywa, Kafein and Eish + Malh as well as the AUC_Lab Notes on Practice publication series featuring artist books on Malak Helmy and Hassan Khan respectively.

Her work was exhibited as part of the Cairo Now exhibition at Dubai Design Week 2016 and will be shown in the upcoming Beirut Design Week 2017.

The open studio sessions are a series of informal visual presentations that take place at the Townhouse library. The sessions aim at providing a space for emerging local and visiting designers, photographers, and artists to discuss their research process and showcase their work to the public.
