Townhouse Salon [10] with Youssef Rakha

We are pleased to kick off the new season of the Townhouse salon series with a conversation with writer and poet, Youssef Rakha, next Sunday at Townhouse Rawabet

In preparation for the Salon, Rakha will read a selection of his poems in conjunction with the poems that inspired them, including Sargon Boulus’s ‘An Angel Appears’ and Ezra Pound’s ‘Exile’s Letter’. The readings will be accompanied by a discussion – in Arabic – about themes, background, style, and history-of-literature context.

Townhouse Salon is a monthly series of informal conversations at the library. Each salon is led by a moderator – a writer, an artist, or a critic – who is invited to curate a topic and share relevant texts with the public. This season, the Townhouse salons are running in collaboration with (Re)writing Criticism, a six month writing-intensive program which aims to build on current practices of criticism in Egyptian contemporary culture.
