A rolling stone gathers no moss
Khaled Galal Eldeen
Opening reception: Sunday, December 28 – 7:00 pm
First Floor Gallery, Townhouse
Join us in the Townhouse First Floor Gallery on Sunday, December 28 for “A rolling stone gathers no moss,” Khaled Galal Eldeen’s first solo exhibition in Cairo.
Constructed over the past four years, this body of work uses found images as a basic alphabet that can be remixed in between digital and analogue planes of reality to create soft, hypnotic patterned surfaces. Paper collages, printed sheets of silk, GIFs and an animation offer different states of visual flatness — pure image surfaces reflecting the mixed reality of objects made after the internet.
Khaled Galal Eldeen holds a BFA and MFA from Alexandria University, where he currently works as a teaching assistant in the painting department. He completed the MASS-Alexandria residency program in 2010/11 and 2011/12, after which he was a resident at Cittadellarte-Fondazione Pistoletto in Biella, Italy in 2013. He has shown his work in group exhibitions such as “PROFIT | PROPHET” at Berlin Art Week, “UNIDEE” at Cittadellarte, DI-EGY FEST 0.1, MASS, the Youth Salon at the Palace of the Arts in Cairo, and the Biblioteca Alexandria, among other venues across Egypt.
